About the Role
Support Workers are key members of the Community Care services team and will share knowledge and experience to assist in the support of aged care and disability clients. Support Workers will deliver high quality services to clients through:
- Domestic assistance and general household duties including mopping, vacuuming and preparing meals
- Social Supports and accessing the community
- Medication assistance and health support including accessing medical services
- Personal Care and supporting clients to maintain personal hygiene and grooming
- Support and empower clients to achieve their personal goals
What we're looking for:
- A team player
- Someone with the ability to be flexible, strong and resilient in various challenging situations
- Experience with personal care, medications, manual handling and behaviour support plans
- Knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training commensurate with the requirements of the work in this level
Core Competencies
- Ability to work independently and provide safe services in client homes or within the community, following care plans and following a planned roster/schedule
- Customer service skills including the ability to support consumers to build independence and exercise choice and control over their daily lives
- Ability to use digital systems including email, messenger systems and Client information systems
Qualifications and Experience
- Current C or CA Driver's license (QLD)
- Certificate III or higher in a relevant qualification with a minimum of 12 months industry experience
- HLTHPS006 – Assist Clients with Medication Skill set
In addition to the above, you will need to demonstrate:
- Previous experience of working with culturally diverse clients
- Current or recent experience in client focused roles
- Ability to adapt communication to individual client needs
- Competent to recognise risks and incidents, react appropriately and report accurately
The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.
All offers of employment are subject to the satisfactory completion of relevant screening and background checks, including an Australian Federal Police check, an NDIS disability worker screening check, and attainment of a Blue Card for working with children, prior to commencement.
