Senior Legal Counsel - Employment Lawyer

What work will you do?

In addition to the tasks outlined above, your key responsibilities will include:

• Providing timely and pragmatic legal advice on employment matters, grievances, discrimination claims, enterprise agreements, and workplace investigations;
• Advising on dispute resolution strategies and supporting litigation management;
• Assisting with the negotiation and resolution of disputes, often involving sensitive or reputational issues;
• Supervising and mentoring junior and mid-level lawyers within the legal team;
• Advising on the development and implementation of policies and legislative frameworks;
• Managing contributions and collaboration with insurers regarding contentious matters.

What type of person will be successful?

• Admitted as a Solicitor or Barrister in Australia;
• Minimum of 4 years' PQE with strong experience in employment law, dispute resolution, and litigation;
• Experience advising on discrimination, bullying, harassment matters, and enterprise agreements;
• Background in administrative law and/or experience advising statutory bodies or government entities is highly desirable;
• Strong strategic thinking, negotiation, and drafting skills;
• Commercial acumen and an ability to balance risk with pragmatic advice;
• Exceptional communication skills and stakeholder management abilities;
• A team player attitude, with the ability to also work autonomously and deliver high-quality, client-centric legal services.
