The Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner delivers high-quality, evidence-based, person-centered behaviour support to NDIS participants, aiming to reduce concerning behaviors and improve quality of life for individuals aged 8–65 years. Responsibilities include conducting functional behaviour assessments, developing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs), training stakeholders, and monitoring outcomes in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguards and NSW legislation.

The PBS Practitioner collaborates with participants, families, carers, support workers, allied health professionals, and external providers to ensure an ethical, respectful approach that honors participants' rights and cultural identities.

In this role you will :

  • Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA) through observation, interviews, and collaboration.
  • Develop and submit PBSPs that meet NDIS requirements and enhance quality of life.
  • Provide coaching, modelling, and consultation for consistent behaviour support application.
  • Ensure documentation complies with NDIS standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Support the Restrictive Practices Authorisation process in NSW and submit documentation to the NDIS Commission.
  • Build respectful relationships with participants and their support networks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals for integrated care.
  • Deliver training on behaviour support and restrictive practices to support workers, families, and carers.
  • Maintain participant records securely, respecting confidentiality.
  • Stay informed on NDIS policies, clinical advancements, and research.

We are interested in people who have :

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, or related fields.
  • Registration with NDIS and a practitioner number.
  • Experience in FBAs, PBSPs, and supporting individuals with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards, legislation, and trauma-informed, person-centered practices.
  • Strong communication skills for report writing, training, and coaching.
  • Interpersonal skills to build rapport with participants, families, and teams.
  • Organizational skills to manage caseloads and meet deadlines.

  • NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • National Police Check
  • NSW Driver's Licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle
