About the role
As the Truck and Trailer Plant Hire Operations Manager at Sustainable Civil Infrastructure Group Pty Ltd, you will oversee the operation and maintenance of the company's fleet of Trucks, Quads, and Trailers.
This full-time role is based in Melbourne, with the main depot in Craigieburn and additional depots in Plumpton and Dandenong. You will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient delivery of civil infrastructure projects across Victoria.
- Build and maintain relationships with Plant Hires to secure work for our fleet and team, day and night.
- Manage the onboarding and operational efficiency of our fleet of 6-10 trucks and trailers.
- Ensure all trucks and staff are inducted, with documentation up-to-date, and manage this proactively.
- Lead a team of experienced truck operators, coordinating schedules, job assignments, docketing, and invoicing for timely payments.
- Oversee maintenance and servicing of the fleet to ensure optimal working condition.
- Develop and implement policies to improve safety, productivity, and efficiency.
- Monitor vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and key performance metrics to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Liaise with Plant Hires, site supervisors, and team members to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Provide training to upskill truck operators.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including HVNL and CoR.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior truck operations or fleet management role.
- Deep knowledge of truck operation, maintenance, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong organizational, planning, and reporting skills for complex logistics.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commitment to safety culture and continuous improvement.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in trucking and logistics, especially related to onboarding and cartage of spoils and materials with tipper trucks and trailers.
- Punctual, professional, and capable of communicating via phone, computer, and apps.
