At Like Family, you'll help shape technology that makes a real difference in people's lives. We're building tools to fight social isolation and loneliness. These are big human problems that need thoughtful, high-impact solutions.

You'll work across the full stack in a modern TypeScript-based environment using tools like React (with Next.js), React Native, Node.js (with Express), and Google Cloud. We build in a serverless architecture, focus on solid engineering practice, shipping often, owning our work end-to-end, and continuously improving how we build together.

This is a collaborative role. Engineers at Like Family don't just code, they ask questions, explore ideas, and work closely with product and design to create meaningful outcomes.

What you'll be doing

• Writing high-quality, production-ready code, whether it's intuitive front-end experiences in React or scalable backend services in Node.js
• Owning your work end-to-end: designing, building, testing, deploying, and monitoring in production
• Working in a modern CI/CD environment with independently deployable services, trunk-based development, and Dockerised everything, from integration tests to production
• Shipping to Google Cloud using serverless technology and leveraging event-driven architecture
• Using infrastructure as code (Pulumi), deploying multiple times a day, and leaning into automation and simplicity wherever possible
• Bringing senior-level experience in your areas of strength, and collaborating with a team that values complementary skills
• Helping the team make smart technical decisions, balancing short-term pragmatism with long-term maintainability
• Working closely with product and design to shape solutions together—not just executing specs
• Contributing to a team culture that values clear communication, shared ownership, and continuous improvement
• Staying thoughtful about performance, quality, and security, with a strong testing mindset

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who brings depth, curiosity, and a collaborative spirit to the team.

You might be a great fit if you:

• Have 4+ years of experience building modern web applications in a commercial environment
• Are comfortable across the stack—from infrastructure to databases to UI but bring particular depth in one or more areas (e.g. backend, front-end, infra, data)
• Have a solid grasp of software fundamentalsand understand how to build maintainable, high-quality systems
• Work well in a trunk-based, cloud-native environment, whether that's GCP, AWS, or similar
• Communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions, and enjoy navigating ambiguity with others
• Care about design, usability, and the human side of the products you build
• Want to work on something that matters, and enjoy contributing to a team with purpose
