  As a Platform Engineer, you will be contributing to the on-going support and extension of the ION platform, using your technical skills and business knowledge to solve real problems to maintain our leading market trading position. You will be conceiving and driving process improvements that add significant business value. You will also be invited to join our regular engineering guilds, both local and global, to engage in knowledge sharing and learning more world-class skills, techniques, and processes.

  You will be part of the eFIR (Electronic Fixed Income and Rates) team, working on the bank's ION electronic trading platform. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and extending this system and directly interacting with the bond, IRS, and repo trading desks.
  
  We are a business-facing team and part of our value add is our in-depth knowledge of the trading business and in particular, fixed income and secured lending trading. Knowledge of front-office trading, and interest in finance and strong communication skills will help you be successful in this team.

  • Enjoy interactions with a variety of technical and non-technical people including traders, salespeople, risk specialists, application and infrastructure teams, and vendors.

  Tech Skills:
  
  We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these, or a willing to learn these skillsets, (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team:
  • Experience in a Platform Engineering or Support role
  • Experience with front-office trading systems, e.g. ION MarketView or Anvil - Ideal
  • Automation activities such as test automation e.g. TestComplete Pro, CI/CD automation, and automation of platform tasks
  • Scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, shell, Perl, Java to implement controls and tasks for building and releasing software continuously.
  • Comfortable working in a Linux command-line environment
  • Efficient working in a Windows desktop environment including tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, TeamCity or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience in using and configuring application monitoring tools such as ITRS Geneos, Splunk, ELK, Grafana.
