City of Moreton Bay, Australia Stride Mental Health Full time

About us: We're leaders in mental health service delivery, specialising in working with adults and young people, and in early childhood intervention. Stride is a name that expresses our ambition – it's a name that's purposeful and shows awareness of the important role we play in the recovery journey.

About the service

The service in Caboolture is funded by the Australian Government to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country. The service is tailored to the needs of the community and offers a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support.

The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress. It offers an alternative to emergency department presentations for low-risk individuals, allowing access to support from trained mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting.

On offer
  • Based in Caboolture, QLD
  • Permanent, part-time (0.8FTE) opportunity
  • Salary Packaging options (up to $15,899 tax free)
  • Meals and entertainment allowance of up to $2,650
  • Leave loading at 17.5%
  • Stride Rewards – access to discounts from 100s of retailers (fashion, food, and fitness)
  • One paid wellbeing leave day per year
  • Purchase up to 5 additional leave days in a 12-month period (pro-rata entitlement if part-time)
  • Paid parental leave support
  • Supportive team environment
  • Excellent training and career development
Role overview
  1. Assist families and carers of people living with a mental illness to achieve purposeful coping and enhance wellbeing in all aspects of their lives.
  2. Assist and educate families and carers to facilitate better access to appropriate services.
  3. Provide emotional support, guidance, and individual one-on-one coaching/counselling based on identified support needs.
  4. Provide advocacy or support self-advocacy for carers where appropriate.
  5. Plan, promote, facilitate, and evaluate the delivery of mental health education and relevant programs.
  6. Respond respectfully, effectively, and efficiently to issues raised by clients, their advocates, or family members.
  7. Identify, develop, and maintain links with relevant service providers, carers, and consumer groups.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Diploma in mental health or community services related discipline (ideally a completed Degree).
  • Previous experience in a Support Worker or related role.
  • In-depth understanding of issues pertaining to mental illness and disabilities and their impact.
  • Knowledge of drugs, alcohol, and illicit drug use impacting health.
  • Experience in group facilitation.
  • Ability to work autonomously, under supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Effective listening, empathy, and communication skills.
  • Negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work in challenging situations.
  • Experience working with families, carers, government agencies, and community services.
  • Willingness to abide by relevant Acts and Standards, including Disability Services Acts and Work Health & Safety Act.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a Blue Card.
  • Willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance.
  • Current Driver's license.

Stride is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable people. All applicants must undergo screening processes prior to appointment. We encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, including those with lived experience of mental health recovery, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and people with disabilities.
