The role

As part of the diverse and inclusive Maintenance Team at Birkenhead Site Operations, a role exists for an enthusiastic, flexible, and motivated person to fill the role of Electrical Maintenance Supervisor.

This role requires good leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to be creative and adapt to the ever-changing needs of the production plan. Good communication skills are essential to ensure departmental collaboration at all times.

Responsibilities

  1. Safety
  2. Lead the team in maintaining a safe and productive work environment by ensuring the development and implementation of safe work practices and procedures that meet statutory and company requirements.
  3. Conduct Critical Risk Verifications, workplace inspections, and safety audits.
  4. Develop safety-related documentation.
  5. Ensure company safety standards are met while coaching and mentoring employees and contractors to eliminate injuries and incidents.
  6. Regularly review workplace safety performance and execute corrective measures.
  7. Participate in incident investigations.
  8. Maintenance life cycle and asset integrity
  9. Contribute to the planning process that enables production and processing optimisation.
  10. Work closely with the Process and Maintenance Supervisors to ensure the process plant and facilities are available so that key resources and assets are effectively utilised and optimised.
  11. Ensure all activities are conducted to achieve lowest cost production.
  12. Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  13. Manage all electrical execution activities to ensure they are carried out in a cost-effective and safe manner.
  14. Managing People
  15. Manage electrical personnel to ensure the effective maintenance of plant and ancillaries so that business targets and goals are achieved to maximum effect.
  16. Lead the training and development of team members by following up on identified needs and competency profiles developed for all roles.
  17. Proactively contribute to team development through active participation in the performance management system.

What you will need to succeed

  1. Experience in heavy industry or mining essential within a Supervisory role.
  2. Electrical Trade Qualification.
  3. HV Switching Certification.
  4. Electrical Instrumentation Certification desirable.
  5. Frontline management or equivalent desirable.
  6. Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and other engineering drawings.
  7. Sound understanding of Fixed Plant maintenance principles and their application in practice.
  8. SCADA experience desirable.
  9. Good level of knowledge in computer literacy, particularly SAP and MS Office.
  10. Ability to plan and anticipate likely scenarios related to all key responsibility areas.
  11. Able to effectively allocate resources to achieve business requirements.
  12. Effective time management and good communication skills.
  13. Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  14. PLC Diagnostic experience essential.
  15. PLC Programming experience desirable.
  16. Availability for engineering support call-out roster.
