As our client continues to grow, we are seeking a multi-skilled and experienced Machinist / Operator to join their dynamic team.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Machinist / Operator who is passionate about precision machining and has a strong background in operating various lathes & milling machines. We are looking for a multi-skilled operator that will be able to manage the facility in remote Moomba, SA in a B2B rotation. The ideal candidate will be mechanically-minded & responsible for setting up and operating mills and lathes to produce high-quality components according to specifications.

Job Description :

1. Carry out machining as per engineering drawing and / or instruction.
2. Transport piping around yard via forklift on their own in the facility.
3. Re-cut threads, repair pipes and flanges as per clients requirements.
4. Report machine and infrastructure faults and equipment problems.
5. Complete product and inspection documentation in accordance with the clients Quality Management System and corporate policies.
6. Perform fitting, maintenance and general hand duties.
7. Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and safe work practices across our operating centres.
8. Highlight to management any conflicts between operational procedures and our safety mandate.
9. Read and understand Engineering Drawings.
10. Maintain accurate records daily.
11. Completion of product and inspection documentation in accordance with our Quality Management System and corporate policies.
12. Accurate completion of job / time / clocking cards is essential.
13. Assistance if required in performing fitting, maintenance, and general hand duties.
14. Care, maintenance, and organisation of company gauges and measuring equipment.
15. Travel to our sites and provision of direct assistance as required.
16. Undertake training – upskilling to provide client required services.

• Highlight to management any conflicts between operational procedures and our safety mandate.
• Responsible for own safety and health at work, and for others at work.
• Must follow lawful instructions from employer for their safety and health.
• Must wear PPE, clothing and safety equipment as instructed.
• Must care for and maintain safety equipment.
• Must report safety or health issues in the workplace.
• Understand and comply with all safety measures required in operation of machines.

Qualifications and Experience
As the successful candidate, you will have :

• A current and appropriate Trade Certificate.
• Possess current relevant licences.
• Understand the operation of manual and computer controlled turning and milling equipment.
• Understand the difference between grades of steel and their machining characteristics.
• Valid and current Drivers License.
• Forklift High Risk License.
• Previous experience with the operation and programming of metal working machinery in a customer focused manufacturing environment is essential. (3-5 years)
• Physical fitness appropriate to the role.
• Experience in a fly in fly out role is preferred but not essential.
