An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic Midwife to join the caseload Midwifery Group Practice model of care in collaboration with local Obstetric team – Geraldton Health Campus – Midwest.

ResponsibilitiesThe primary responsibility of the Midwife is to provide continuity of midwifery carer within a caseload midwifery led model in collaboration with local Obstetric teams, throughout the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. The midwife works within a group practice and provides antenatal and postnatal support and backup for the woman in the community or in the hospital. The emphasis is on the provision of safe, effective care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Within the midwifery group practice the woman and her family is central to the care and provided in a culturally appropriate manner.
Qualifications / Selection Criteria- Minimum 3 years demonstrated post-registration experience and commitment working in midwifery led, women-centred models of care, with advanced skills across the continuum of care.
- Knowledge of, and demonstrated practice within the boundary of, the latest ANMC Competency Standards for Midwives and the ACM National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation and Referral.
- Effective communication and interpretation skills, including the demonstrated ability to facilitate information sharing between colleagues, women and their families.
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team.
- A commitment to quality improvement activities, customer service and clinical governance within the health care sector.
- Current knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements in the areas of Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Work Health and Safety, and how these impact on employment, people management and service delivery.
