Your New Role

In this 12-month contract you will report to the Senior Manager, Business Risk and Controls within Fund Services. You will be responsible for leading the Risk and Controls Stream for one of the projects within AustralianSuper. The role is required to facilitate the key outputs of the Risk and Controls stream for the project, including ensuring requisite controls are identified, developed and operationalised across the Fund to ensure obligations are adhered to and business risks are suitably mitigated.

Key duties include but are not limited to;

  • Lead aspects and contribute to the overall implementation of the Project across the Fund by partnering, challenging and advising the project on risk and compliance matters.
  • Work with Project and business resources experienced in risk management, compliance and project management to support delivery and implementation of the Project expected outcomes for AustralianSuper.
  • Lead aspects of the completion of relevant milestones within a detailed plan of expected timelines, deliverables, definitions of done, artefacts and governance interventions to be delivered by or implemented across the Fund.
  • Engage within a think-tank environment intended to proactively identify and promptly solve implementation issues and timings.
  • Be a thought leader willing to share ideas and solutions with other Domains to ensure consistency of outcomes for our Members and Fund.
  • Provide feedback to the Project Working Group and/or Initiative leads. Where possible, document feedback and, if challenges are unmet, document these as risks or risk acceptances.
  • Work collaboratively on solutions with the Program and other Domain transformation leads and make formal recommendations to relevant decision groups where appropriate.
What You'll Need
  • Experience in Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, Internal or External Audit, Business Analyst.
  • An understanding of prudential or markets regulations with respect to risk management and investment governance; experience drawn from first, second or third line of defense risk management functions within major financial institutions, custodians, superannuation funds or an insurance office (specific investment exposure is a plus).
  • Exposure to Internal or External Audit risk and control identification and testing practices/methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and planning skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong written and oral communication/interpersonal skills with the ability to present ideas to senior management.
  • Strong engagement skills reflecting a professional, collegiate and engaging approach to risk management.
