What to expect

We understand transitioning from university to practice can be challenging. Our comprehensive induction includes legal, technical, and soft skills training to facilitate this transition. We tailor the clerkship experience based on your practice area interests, where possible.

As a seasonal clerk, you'll gain real work experience, engaging with clients through meetings, shadowing, research, and document drafting. You'll also have opportunities to participate in pro bono work and community initiatives.

You will work closely with lawyers, supervised by a partner, and supported by an associate 'buddy'. Our focus on learning and development means you'll be well-supported and mentored.

Throughout the program, you'll attend sessions to develop your legal and commercial skills, network within the firm, learn about our practices and clients, and explore our global opportunities. Social events and 'speed networking' will further enhance your experience.

Most graduate positions are offered to former clerks, who may also have opportunities for paralegal roles.

Application process

Apply by addressing your cover letter and details of your experience, interests, and academic results to Natalie Mascarenhas, Senior Consultant - Graduate Resourcing. No CV is required. Complete two questions as part of your application, as we do not use psychometric or assessment tests.

Selected candidates will have an interview with a partner and senior lawyer, focusing on your experiences, interests, and motivations. A 'buddy' will support you through the process. We also host an information and networking evening with firm members.

Eligibility requires Australian citizenship or permanent residency, or the right to work full-time in Australia during the clerkship periods. Applicants should be enrolled in a law degree or equivalent, aiming for admission as a legal practitioner in Australia. The program primarily targets penultimate-year students, but final-year students are also considered.

  • 24 Nov – 19 Dec 2025
  • 2 Feb – 27 Feb 2026
  • 29 Jun – 24 Jul 2026
