An exciting opportunity for a Managing Director, based in Sydney, Australia, to lead and grow the APAC region of a globally-renowned expert construction disputes division of a highly-reputable, premium consulting firm.

The consultancy offers premium expert advisory services in quantum, delay, and project risk management for large-scale, high-value construction projects. Their team of specialists helps clients navigate challenges in contract disputes, litigation support, arbitration, and mediation with a hands-on approach.

Their team, composed of seasoned experts and specialist expert witnesses recognized by Lexology, is experienced in resolving contractual issues and delivering practical solutions to mitigate risk and improve project outcomes.

This demanding role combines leadership and business development with hands-on expert witness work, assisting clients in navigating contract disputes, litigation, arbitration, and mediation. Responsibilities and Duties
  • Act as an independent expert witness
  • Lead a team of dispute resolution professionals, including consultants and experienced experts
  • Provide expert witness testimony
  • Represent main contractors, law firms, and employers in high-value disputes and arbitrations worth millions of pounds
  • Drive strategic growth through business development and client relationship management
  • Participate in recruitment, training, and development of high-performing staff to support business expansion
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience as a Delay Expert Witness, with testifying and cross-examination experience preferred
  • Ability to secure expert appointments and build a dispute work pipeline
  • Leadership experience and success in developing new business in the expert witness or consultancy sectors
  • Background in complex construction projects and large-scale disputes, ideally internationally
  • Strong industry network and contacts
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
  • Degree qualified
  • Chartered status preferred
  • MSc in Construction Law or LLM, either achieved or in progress, highly preferred
