About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Boiler Engineer to join our team at Millmerran Power Station. Reporting to the Mechanical Engineer Boiler Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical boiler-related systems.

This role focuses on the following key systems:

• Combustion Air System – including Primary Air (PA) and Forced Draft (FD) Fans, ducting, Steam Coil Air Heater (SCAH), and air heating systems.
• Flue Gas System – including Induced Draft (ID) Fan system, flue gas ducting, and chimney stack.
• Fuel Oil Ignition and Storage System – including fuel oil burners, ignitors, bulk diesel storage tank, and associated piping.
• Bottom Ash and Fly Ash Collection and Transport Systems – including Magaldi Bottom Ash system, baghouse system, fly ash conveying and storage system.

You will play a key role in inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimisation of these systems, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a preference given to additional education such as a certification or diploma in Asset Management or related discipline.
• Experience in the energy sector or similar heavy industry is essential, with coal-fired power station experience, including fans, pumps, and material handling systems being seen as highly advantageous for the preferred candidate.
• Strong technical expertise in boiler systems and associated auxiliary equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and manuals.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• Proficiency in maintenance planning and reliability improvement practices.
