Overview

Join the ACCC as a Senior Data Scientist, APS6 (EA2025/171). This role applies advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to support investigations and improve ways of working within a fast-moving environment. What you will do
  • Collaborate with teams to define business problems and translate them into data questions.
  • Clean, merge, and transform data from diverse sources; apply statistical, AI, and machine learning techniques to generate insights or build solutions.
  • Create static and interactive visualisations tailored to different audiences; clearly communicate technical findings through reports, presentations, and discussions.
  • Build strong relationships across the agency, mentor junior data professionals, and contribute to team-wide capability-building initiatives.
About you
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team or similar role in a fast-paced and large complex people-centred organisation.
  • Proficiency in a broad range of data acquisition, processing, statistical, AI and machine learning techniques, including the ability to review the use of these techniques by others.
  • Experience with one or more analytical programming languages (e.g., R, Python).
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills; ability to define business problems and derive accurate and relevant insights from a broad range of data for complex use cases.
