About the Role
At Kanda, we're more than a care provider – we're a community. We are seeking a dedicatedBehaviour Support Practitionerto join our team, reporting to the Behaviour Support Practitioner Team Leader. The primary purpose of this position is to provide consultation, case review, risk assessment, and intervention for clients with complex needs as they access Kanda. You will also identify, develop, and deliver training for these areas of practice to Support Workers, and establish/review policy and practice guidelines for supporting adults, children, and young people with complex and challenging behaviour.

This is a full-time or part-time opportunity with hybrid work options available, with our Head Office located in Bundaberg.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high quality, culturally appropriate behaviour support to people with an intellectual disability who have a specific support need.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to provide effective and efficient services to a client with an intellectual disability in line with their goals.
  • Write PBSP's with strategies that respond to participants' needs and the causes of the challenging behaviour.
  • Implement appropriate evidence-based behavioural support services that meet the needs of clients according to the goals and within the allocated hours of their NDIS plan.
  • Participate in support planning processes for clients to deliver coordinated, effective service provision that meets the goals of the client's NDIS Plan.
  • Provide staff and carer training required to meet the client's goals.
  • Keep up-to-date records and necessary reports (support plans, assessment reports, intervention summaries).
  • Consult with supervisors, other professional disciplines, and other team members regarding clinical issues.
  • Coach, advise, and support on-the-job support to other team members to enhance quality and culturally appropriate behavioural support interventions.
  • Manage and maintain appropriate client files.
About You
  • NDIS registrationas aproficient practitioner or above(you MUST have a behaviour practitioner suitability endorsement letter from NDIS QSC)
  • A degree inallied health, social science, or behavioural science(or currently studying towards one).
  • 12+ months experienceworking as a positive behaviour practitioner.
  • Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) principles, methodologies, NDIS, and DSA 2006 legislations.
  • Current unencumbered Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Hold and maintain an approved Working with Children Suitability Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening.
  • Experience and/or understanding of quality functions within an organisational structure.
  • Ability to organise work priorities and perform duties under management supervision, and to work autonomously as and when required.
