Overview

The Department of Health is seeking qualified Allied Health Professionals for CYMHS Out of Home Care Team in the North of Tasmania. Please note these positions are also being advertised as Clinical Nurse Specialists in the North; these positions will be filled on merit. Role focus

We are seeking allied health professionals with experience in complex case management, assessment, counselling and/or therapy. Experience in mental health or a relevant sector is ideal. You would be working within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment with young people and their families.

Our Aim

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Tasmania is growing. We are seeking passionate and dedicated Lead Practitioners to provide clinical services to young people and their families/significant others experiencing mental health concerns. The positions available are within our new teams, developed under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).

The role

The out of home care practitioner will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach and working within a multidisciplinary team environment, and with external stakeholders. The role will include:

  • Being part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services to young people, and their families/carers.
  • Undertaking clinical services through the provision of complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs.
  • Working alongside innovative team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new youth mental health services in Tasmania.
  • Leading and working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.
  • Applicants who have undertaken training in relevant and appropriate evidence-based therapeutic interventions that are developmentally appropriate (e.g., CBT, DBT, Family Therapy, ACT) would be highly regarded.

  • Three positions are available in the North.
  • Based in Launceston CBD.
  • The North of the state offers natural beauty and easy access to Cataract Gorge, waterfalls, bush walks, beaches, and mountain biking tracks.
  • Launceston is a great place to raise children with access to prestigious schools.

An attractive relocation package and support for international visa requirements may be available for successful applicants.

Details of Appointment

Three permanent full-time day worker positions, 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. The selection process may be used to fill additional vacancies for up to twelve months.

  • Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum, with employer 12% superannuation on top.
  • Salary packaging and benefits may include living expenses up to $9,010 and meal entertainment up to $2,650 each FBT year, plus other eligible benefits.
  • Salary range aligned with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.
Eligibility and Desirable Qualifications

Essential criteria:

  • Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional qualification/program and registration with the relevant National Board, or full membership/eligibility with the relevant professional association for self-regulated professions.
  • Current Working with Children Registration.
  • Registration/licence requirements must remain current and valid; changes must be reported to the Employer.

Desirable criteria:

  • Postgraduate experience in mental health related to CAMHS.
  • A minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience in child, adolescent and/or youth mental health or a relevant field.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
