About The Role

As the Aboriginal Cancer Care Project Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Cancer Care Coordinator to design and deliver a Model of Care toolkit that is culturally safe, practical, and responsive to community needs. You will contribute to service improvement by mapping pathways, strengthening collaboration between health providers and Aboriginal communities, and helping to identify strategies that reduce barriers to care. This position involves project planning, resource development, and system-level improvements to ensure Aboriginal patients and families are cared for in ways that respect culture and community.

Your impact


• Support the Cancer Care Coordinator in designing and implementing the Aboriginal Cancer Care Model of Care toolkit.

• Undertake project planning, coordination, and reporting to support service development.

• Work collaboratively with internal teams, health providers, and Aboriginal communities to identify gaps and co-design solutions.

• Strengthen partnerships to improve integration of culturally safe cancer care services.

• Contribute to evaluation and continuous improvement of cancer care pathways for Aboriginal patients and families.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • A cultural connection to Tamworth and the surrounding Aboriginal community.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal health services and the barriers Aboriginal people may face when accessing care.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and advocacy skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting project coordination, health program planning, or service development.
  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in health, social science, or community service.
  • Ability to provide advice and resources for staff to maximise the effective use of the Model of Care toolkit in practice, education, and service delivery.
