Position Profile:

The Child and Adolescent Health Service are seeking dynamic andvalues-driven individuals to be considered for the role of SeniorSocial Worker within our Child Development Service team.Bring your passion and commitment and make a difference to thosethat matter – the next generation.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will provide advanced social workservices to consumers. You will undertake clinical assessmentof an allocated caseload and contribute as a senior member to thefunctioning of a multi-disciplinary team. Your role willplan, coordinate, implement and evaluate social work interventionsfor children with or at significant risk of developmental delay,with a team context.

About the Child Development Service: TheChild Development Service provides multidisciplinary assessment andintervention services to infant, children and young people withdevelopmental delay or difficulties that impact on function,participation and/or the parent-child relationship.

Clinicians adopt a child and family-centred approach, working inpartnership with families to address developmental concerns thatare of priority to the family.

Our teams include Clinical Psychologists, DevelopmentalPaediatricians, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists,Social Workers, Speech Pathologists, and other allied healthprofessionals.

The Child Development Service provides services at approximately18 locations across the metropolitan Perth area, as well asproviding home, school and community visits as needed.

Eligibility to Apply: Australiancitizenship or permanent residency is an essential requirement forapplicants to be considered for permanent positions in the publicsector. Fixed term contracts can be held by individuals on visasthat allow working rights within Australia.

To be considered for this role, you must havetertiary qualifications in Social Work and be eligible forregistration for full membership of the Australian Association ofSocial Workers.

  • Within the application system, you will be asked toprovide a response to the following questions that address theessential criteria stated within the job description form forthe position. Each response should be provided in nomore than 750 words per question.
  • Do you currently have tertiaryqualifications in Social Work which make you eligible forregistration as a full member of the Australian Association ofSocial Workers. (Refers to EssentialCriteria 1).
  • Please provide a detailed demonstration of youradvanced skills in individual therapy and group work practicewith children and families, utilising your specialist knowledgeof social work theory, practice and policy in the areas ofchild development and child abuse. (Refers to EssentialCriterions 2 & 3).
  • Describe your demonstrated knowledge and experiencein senior level caseload management, administrative skills andworking within a multidisciplinary team, using your highlydeveloped interpersonal and communication skills. (Refersto Essential Criterions 4, 5 & 6).
  • Describe your ongoing commitment to professionaldevelopment, including your knowledge of legislative and otherregulatory requirements in the areas of equity and diversity,disability services and occupational health and safety andtheir impact on employment, people management and servicedelivery. (Refers to Essential Criterions 7 &8).
  • A current resume which summarises your experienceand includes both phone and email contact details of twoprofessional referees, with at least one being a recentsupervisor/line manager.
