Senior Palliative Care Occupational Therapist

Location: Broken Hill, NSW | Employment Type: Permanent Full Time | Position Classification: Occupational Therapist Level 3 | Remuneration: $101,591 - $116,038 + Superannuation | Hours Per Week: 38

Overview

This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata'd to your contracted or ordinary working hours, payments paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme. The scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling rural and remote health services and provides incentives over and above award entitlements to attract and retain staff in these areas.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide senior clinical leadership within the Allied Health Palliative care service provision, including optimisation of patient care delivery, and mentoring and development of staff.
  • Manage a clinical caseload of patients across the lifespan with complex needs, approaching or at end of life in the community or inpatient settings across the Far West Local Health District (FWLHD).
  • Participate in planning, implementation and evaluation of occupational therapy services to palliative care patients across the FWLHD.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary palliative care team to develop key performance indicators for quality improvement and research initiatives.
  • Candidates with Level 2 year 3–4 experience and a plan to progress to Level 3 are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
  • Must hold a tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy, be eligible for AHPRA registration, and have at least 3 years post-graduate clinical experience in a relevant field. Current class C NSW drivers licence or equivalent.
  • Evidence of advanced clinical skills and experience in providing occupational therapy services for palliative care clients.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision-making and advocacy skills, including collaborative stakeholder consultation.
  • Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills with the ability to prioritize, organize and manage autonomously across a complex range of clinical settings.
  • Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes with other staff.
  • Experience in clinical supervision, mentoring and development of junior staff and students.

The Far West Local Health District is one of 15 LHDs under NSW Health, delivering high-quality public health services to far west NSW communities. We employ over 800 clinicians and support staff across nine health facilities in Broken Hill and surrounding towns.
