About Your Role :

UGL's Transport - Manufacturing & Maintenance business is seeking a high-performing and committed Electrical Fitter / Mechanic with experience in locomotive, wagon, or passenger carriage (rolling stock) maintenance and overhaul to join our team based at our Bohle facility.

This permanent full-time role operates on a day shift roster (6:00 am – 2:30 pm), offers a competitive hourly rate, and provides opportunities for growth and progression.

Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager, your key responsibilities include conducting maintenance and overhauls on rolling stock and performing general workshop duties. You should be qualified to deliver exceptional service to our clients.

Key responsibilities :

  • Perform maintenance, servicing, and overhaul work on locomotives, wagons, passenger carriages, and site maintenance.
  • Read, interpret, and work from plans, diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct assembly, disassembly, and component maintenance following best practices.
  • Participate in general workshop duties and contribute to the safe, efficient operations of the team.

About You :

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience :

  • Australian recognized trade certificate and hold a QLD Electrical Work License - Electrical Fitter / Mechanic.
  • Previous experience with rolling stock is beneficial.
  • Additional certifications such as Forklift, EWP, and Working at Heights are highly regarded.
  • Proven experience working within the rail industry, especially in rolling stock.
  • Solid understanding of machinery and equipment assembly and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and component overhaul processes.
  • Excellent fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
