What You'll Be Doing

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

Where You'll Be Working

SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.

These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.

With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

How To Apply

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience. Approved post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the speciality field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
  • Describe a time when you provided expert clinical advice in a complex mental health case. How did you develop and implement a care management plan, and what was the outcome for the patient and care team?
  • How have you contributed to the strategic or operational planning of a clinical service in your previous roles? In your response, please reflect on how you ensured alignment with professional nursing standards, codes of ethics, and legislative requirement.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
