Do you want to be part of using the business of banking as a force for good? Do you want to create positive impact for people and the planet? Bank Australia is the bank for people who want to be part of a movement creating a fairer and more just world.
We're growing fast as more people choose to align their banking with their values. We're a customer owned, B Corp certified bank. We empower our staff and 185,000+ customers to be part of the clean money movement.
We currently have a fixed term, full time (12-month parental leave cover) opportunity for a Financial Accountant – External Reporting working in our professional and highly engaged finance department. This role will be based in our Collingwood Head Office and will report to the Finance Manager – Financial Governance & Reporting.
This role will support the external reporting requirements of Finance. These requirements will be designed to ensure that Bank Australia is compliant with the regulatory requirements of APRA and other regulators and reporting to other key stakeholders. These requirements will also involve project work given the large number of upcoming regulatory changes.
- We have big plans to become Australia's most trusted bank and a leading purpose-driven business.
- As a certified B Corp, we're part of a global business community who meet the highest social and environmental standards, putting purpose over profit.
- Every role and person in our bank is essential to bringing our values, purpose and aspiration to life.
- We offer flexible working options, competitive salary and 13% super.
- Our staff have access to a range of meaningful benefits to support their physical and mental wellbeing including 24/7 free counselling, free flu vaccinations and discounted gym memberships.
- We also support staff with study assistance, paid parental leave (regardless of gender), volunteer, bereavement, gender affirmation and family violence leave; and the opportunity for bonus annual leave.
- We support our staff to grow their careers through learning and development and an organisational culture where we reward and recognise innovation and values, not long hours.
- We are committed to building an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce that reflects the Australian community.
- We care for a conservation reserve – where we work with key partner organisations to protect threatened species and involve staff in conservation.
What you will be doing
- Preparing accurate and timely regulatory reports for submission to APRA and other Bank stakeholders, including validation and control over underlying data and analytical review of reports, relating to Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss statements
- Liaise with Financial Reporting, Business Performance and Treasury teams to validate the completeness and accuracy of regulatory reporting submissions
- Contribute to the regulatory reporting working group to continually improve the controls, features and benefits of regulatory reporting systems
- Support both the internal and external audit engagements on all compliance, internal control and accounting matters related to regulatory reporting
- Assist in preparation of the annual attestation of regulatory reporting obligations, compliance plans and updating of regulatory reporting related control registers
- Preparing Bank Australia's financial statements and reports and attesting their compliance with accounting standards and the provision of a true and fair view of Bank Australia's financial position and performance
- Providing accounting services to Buloke Funding Trust No.1 and any other entity established by the Bank
- Preparing the Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) annual scorecard
- Preparing all reporting obligations to other external bodies, such as ABS, CUFSS and the Southern Chairs Forum
- Support the Bank's adoption of sustainability standards.
What you will bring
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, accounting, economics or other relevant area
- Solid experience in an APRA regulated bank which should include experience in financial and regulatory reporting
- An understanding of accounting and prudential standards, policies and guides
- Understanding of business process, control and best practice
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
- Independent and a highly motivated attitude
- Skills in implementing high quality business process improvements
- Exposure to other functions in banking (e.g. risk, information technology, accounting, and relationship management) would be an advantage
- Commitment to Bank Australia's purpose, aspiration, values and brand as well as the B Corp ethos.
