The Role

The Senior Finance Business Partner (Telecommunications) is responsible for managing the Finance function within the Telecommunications Group. This includes overall responsibility and ownership for the compliance and financial management of the Telecommunications Group, managing operational and business systems, business processes, strategic planning and direction, project program management, and financial and management analysis and reporting for the department.

The Senior Finance Business Partner (Telecommunications) is also responsible for providing financial and commercial advice to the Executive General Manager Telecommunications Group, and all senior Telecommunications Group Managers.

This position has 2 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As the senior finance authority to the Telecommunications Group, provide business partnering with regards to all financial and commercial matters, as well as financial coaching and support to Telecommunications Group managers and team members
  • Lead the financial management of the Telecommunications Group in accordance with the relevant internal policies and procedures, accounting standards and statutory requirements
  • Deliver Capital Program management including budgeting, forecasting and reporting, and commercial oversight on all Telecommunications capital projects
  • Prepare financial analysis and complex modelling for the Group's Investment proposals, including business case advisory and review, as well as the provision of technical financial or commercial advice to the wider group, and cash management for investment prioritisation
  • Lead the Telecommunications Group strategic workforce planning, apply management principles when implementing organisational change, and actively monitor and report on Group leave balances
  • Participate in project tender evaluations and selection from a finance perspective, ensuring that all contracts have a considered financial approach, clearly defined scope, milestones and financial requirements
  • Develop management reporting for the Telecommunications Group as required, including regular Board updates, Committee Reporting, and updates on KPI's through dashboard reporting
  • Prepare and/or review Group financial journals on a monthly basis
  • Project accounting and ERR. Manage the annual ACMA Eligible Revenue Return. Manage project accounting to ensure accuracy in the naming and description of the natural accounts and the organisational cost structure in TechOne for the Telecommunications Group
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify financial risks across the Telecommunications Group with adherence to regulations and policies to ensure compliance. Provide support to the Group Manager and individual risk areas including identifying and managing risks

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Accounting or Finance
  • Post-graduate qualification or studying towards Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA)

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience in the delivery of management accounting and reporting services in a medium sized organisation in telecommunications or other high technology environments
  • Experience in managing month-end and year-end financial processes, including budgeting and forecasting, commercial financial analysis, board reporting and strategic planning Experience in process improvement to drive productivity and efficiency gains
  • Demonstrated experience in ERP software - Technology One or similar is preferred
  • Understanding of project and contract management processes and commercial structures, including the tracking of CAPEX, and recognition of revenue and costs in a project
  • Experience in managing and developing staff
