Drive Cyber Resilience | Lead Security Initiatives | Shape a Secure Future

Are you passionate about cyber security and ready to take on a leadership role in a dynamic financial services environment? A leading financial services company based in Melbourne is seeking a Cyber Security Lead to drive security strategy, enhance resilience, and ensure best-practice protection of critical assets.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security & Governance, you'll be instrumental in strengthening the company's security posture, managing risk, and driving cyber security initiatives across governance, technical controls, assurance, and incident response.

This is a hands-on role that requires an experienced and versatile professional who can balance technical expertise with strategic insight, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and champion a proactive cyber security culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cyber security strategies, policies, and controls aligned with industry best practices.
  • Identify and mitigate security risks, ensuring effective governance, compliance, and technical security controls.
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of security capabilities, including vulnerability management, endpoint protection, access controls, and network security.
  • Respond to and manage cyber security incidents, conducting investigations, post-incident analysis, and continuous improvements.
  • Provide expert guidance to stakeholders, fostering a security-first culture across the business.
  • Oversee third-party security assessments and audits, ensuring vendor compliance.
  • Stay ahead of emerging threats and evolving cyber security standards, ensuring the organisation remains resilient.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years in IT, with at least 5 years in cyber security roles within an enterprise environment.
  • Expertise in cloud security (AWS, Microsoft 365, Azure), endpoint security, and governance frameworks (ISO27001, NIST CSF, Essential 8, VPDSS).
  • Strong experience in incident response, threat intelligence, and risk assessment.
  • Proven ability to define and implement security policies, standards, and controls.
  • Solid technical knowledge of network architectures, system security, and business continuity planning.
  • Exceptional communication skills – able to translate complex security concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GSEC, GRID).
  • A passion for continuous learning and staying ahead of the latest cyber security trends.

Ready to make an impact?

If you're a cyber security expert who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on strategic role, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now and help shape the future of cyber security across this organisation.
