Brisbane, Queensland, Australia at Full time
Overview

Step into a critical planning role at one of Australia's top underground copper operations – help shape the mine's performance with your designs and schedules.

About Us

MAC Copper Limited — CSA Mine in Cobar, NSW — one of Australia's highest-grade and longest-operating underground copper mines. With strong investment and a renewed strategic direction, we are building a performance-driven and safety-first culture across site.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Strategic Planning Engineer, you'll be responsible for generating practical and optimised medium-term mine plans, development designs, and rolling schedules. Your work will directly support the delivery of annual budget targets, while stabilising medium- to long-term production forecasts and de-risking operational performance.

This is a site-based role on an 8:6 FIFO or DIDO roster, with residential options available. It's a key position for someone who thrives on planning, collaboration, and contributing to long-life mine success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver 3-month rolling schedules (3MRS) and 12-month forecasts aligned with the budget and long-term strategy.
  • Design and optimise development (capital and operational) and stope layouts within a 3–36-month timeframe.
  • Communicate design intent effectively to short-term planners to ensure weekly and shift plans align with medium-term goals.
  • Support the short-term scheduling team by providing design guidance, context, and technical input.
  • Maintain and manage the design master file for all medium-term planning inputs.
  • Collaborate with production and technical teams (including mine operations, geotechnical, ventilation, geology, and metallurgy) to ensure designs are practical and achievable.
  • Engage with the long-term planning team to ensure alignment with the Life of Asset (LOA) plan and reserve models.
  • Lead regular Medium-Term Planning meetings, including schedule pre-loads, interaction reviews, 3MRS discussions, and design updates.
About You
  • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of underground mining experience, with strong exposure to both production and planning roles.
  • Proficient in Deswik CAD and Deswik Sched, with demonstrated experience producing mine designs and integrated schedules.
  • Solid understanding of ventilation, drill & blast, and backfill designs in an underground setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communicator with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
  • Committed to safe mining practices and operational excellence.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary package with performance incentives.
  • 8:6 FIFO or DIDO roster from major hubs (residential options available).
  • A key technical role at a long-life underground copper mine.
  • Exposure to complex and deep mining challenges in a supportive environment.
  • Career progression in a values-driven, forward-thinking organisation.
  • A collaborative and agile technical team focused on continuous improvement.
Ready to Make an Impact?

If you're a skilled planner with the drive to help shape mine performance and long-term outcomes, we'd love to hear from you. Apply now to become a vital part of the future at CSA Mine.
