The Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation is seeking to engage a Policy and Program Officer for a temporary period until 31 October 2025 to support the delivery of a program of social policy and program initiatives to prevent and reduce liquor and gambling harm.

With your demonstrated experience in undertaking or assisting the delivery of projects within a social policy and/or public health context, this is your opportunity to play a role in contributing to the delivery of outcomes under the Gambling Harm Minimisation Plan for Queensland 2021-2025.

As a Policy and Program Officer in the Social Policy and Research Branch of the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for the development and implementation of a program of social policy and program initiatives to prevent and reduce liquor and gambling harm.

In this role, you will assist in a range of program and project management activities that support effective program and project-level governance, monitoring and reporting. You will undertake research and analysis on current and emerging issues relating to liquor and gambling harm prevention and minimisation and contribute to the development of policies, and regulatory and non-regulatory public health interventions that directly contribute to the Queensland Government's broader harm prevention and reduction outcomes.

As the ideal candidate for this position, you will have the following skills, abilities, and capabilities:

  • Demonstrated experience or working knowledge of effective project management, particularly as applied within a social policy program context.
  • Research and analysis skills to analyse information and data using logic and reasoning.
  • Completes workload within established timeframes and adjusts priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience in formulating recommendations, preparing briefing notes and correspondence.
  • Stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills for collaborating to achieve outcomes.
  • Exchanges ideas, information and opinions with others to inform policy and program development and contributes to continuous process improvement.
  • Contributes to workplace equity, diversity, respect and inclusion that enriches our culture of respect and inclusion.
