RPS has an established client-side project management consulting business in Australia and Asia Pacific, with over 400 project management staff. The RPS Project Management team in Townsville is continuing to grow and we have a strong workbook for 2025 and beyond, with key long-term projects in delivery underwriting our business.

RPS is currently tracking a number of live opportunities with our existing clients across government and health projects. To support this, RPS seeks a qualified and experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team as part of the expansion of our project management business.

The Senior Project Manager role offers leadership, ownership, scope, collaboration, autonomy, challenges, and management of delivering significant projects with valued clients. This role would suit an established project management professional wanting to take a key role in the delivery of infrastructure and building construction projects, as well as managing client relationships and the line management team. Preference is for Mackay-based applicants, but RPS is open to a co-located service delivery model with regular attendance in Mackay.

Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery of significant projects, with leadership, ownership, and autonomy in managing scope and delivery for valued clients.
  • Manage client relationships and contribute to the growth of the project management business.
  • Deliver infrastructure and building construction projects and manage related contracts, contract administration, and design management.
  • Provide leadership to project teams, including junior staff, within a large team structure.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, support governance, and ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualification in project management, engineering, construction management, or similar.
  • 10+ years of project management experience.
  • Experience in client-side project management across Government and Health projects, particularly infrastructure planning and delivery.
  • Demonstrated recent project experience involving buildings and construction.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing teams.
  • Strong understanding and proven experience in managing contracts, contract administration, and design management.
  • Very strong stakeholder management, communications, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project desirable.
  • Australian citizenship and holding or able to obtain and retain a minimum Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
  • AIPM Certified Practising Project Manager certification or equivalent is favorable.
  • Comfortable working within a large team structure and providing leadership to junior staff.
  • Desire to work on major complex projects.
  • Flexible to travel as required to site-based meetings and activities for clients.
