Position Information

Canowindra High School (252 enrolments including 9% Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students) is a small rural coeducational secondary school and with a strong community ties located in the Central West of New South Wales, 60km south west of Orange and 30km north of Cowra.

The school seeks to ensure a comprehensive outcomes-based educational program for all students, providing a high quality academic education, broad based welfare programs and a wide range of leadership, citizenship, artistic, cultural and sporting opportunities.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Secondary Library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Teacher Librarian qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.

Demonstrated skills in effectively managing a school library including the use of technology to assist students in accessing, evaluating and synthesising information.

Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and the wider school community.

Potential to contribute to whole school programs to develop a culture of reading, literacy, digital literacy, research skills and critical thinking.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Special Notes

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
