About the role

We currently have multiple positions available for Full Time Permanent Bus Drivers at our Lonsdale and Seaford depots. We are looking for passionate people who enjoy driving and want to service their community, whilst delivering the best experience possible to our customers.

A little bit about our rates

  • Permanent: $29.32 per hour Weekday (shift loadings – range dependent on times of operation throughout the shift)
  • Permanent: $43.98 (Sat), $58.64 (Sun), $73.30 (PH)

About us

Busways is the largest Australian-owned bus operator and the most experienced Australian bus specialist, delivering high-performing transport services since 1942. As the first choice for real-world solutions, we provide public bus services on behalf of state governments. Our team of 2,800 operates 1,350 buses and 53 million journeys annually.

Hours of work

Our drivers must be willing and flexible to work various shifts, including weekends, early mornings, and late nights.

The majority of shifts for full-time drivers are split shifts, covering peak service times in the morning and afternoon/evening. These shifts typically occur during the following periods, with durations varying:

  • Morning: 5:00 am – 11:30 am
  • Afternoon/evening: 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Outside these hours, you can leave the depot or stay and use our driver facilities. Some straight shifts at varied times may also be available.

All depots operate seven days a week, with most weekend work available as overtime.

Eligibility to apply

  • A current and valid driver's licence (Medium Rigid or Heavy Rigid Licence highly desired but not essential)
  • A good driving history
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Willing to undergo a pre-employment medical, criminal history check, and working with children check
  • A current Large Passenger (LP) accreditation is highly desired or willing to obtain one
