Position Overview

The Master Production Scheduler is responsible for translating customer demand into executable manufacturing schedules for machining operations (Lathe, Mill, and EDM). This role serves as a key liaison between Sales/Program Management, Purchasing, and the Production Floor to ensure delivery commitments are consistently met. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance competing priorities in a high-mix, low-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and release the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for machining departments in line with customer delivery needs, material availability, and capacity constraints.
  • Prepare and distribute daily and weekly shipping lists aligned with production priorities.
  • Compile and release manufacturing process documentation, including Process Books, Job Travelers, Setup Sheets, Tool Lists, In-Process Drawings, Critical Dimension Sheets, and Inspection Records.
  • Participate in daily production walks to identify and address issues impacting the MPS or shipping commitments.
  • Generate and maintain monthly raw material requirements plans, collaborating with Purchasing to manage cost, lead time, and inventory optimization.
  • Work closely with Purchasing and Shipping/Receiving to ensure timely availability of raw materials, hardware, and outsourced services.
  • Manage tooling needs, including requisitions, inventory tracking, minimum stock levels, and returns of excess/obsolete items.
  • Adjust schedules in response to engineering changes, customer priority shifts, or disruptions (e.g., machine downtime, material delays).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in production/manufacturing planning within a job shop or high-mix machining environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MES systems (Epicor and/or ProShop experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with CNC job routing, work center capacities, and machine shop flow.
  • Ability to read and interpret BOMs, routings, and work orders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze data and build reports to support scheduling decisions.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills; able to align diverse stakeholders in a fast-changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Engineering strongly preferred).
  • Familiarity with AS9100 standards.
  • Hands-on experience with 5-Axis Milling Platforms and Multi-Axis Turning Centers.
  • ASME Y GD&T certification (foundational level required; advanced level strongly preferred).
