This is a Network Engineering Manager, DC Edge Fabric Engineering role with Amazon Web Services (AWS) based in Melbourne, VIC, AU.

About the Role: AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual access to our services. We work on challenging problems involving complex variables and are looking for talented individuals to join us. You'll collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, security experts, operations managers, and more, to deliver high standards of safety, security, and capacity at low cost.

We are seeking a highly motivated Network Engineering Manager to build scalable, automated Datacenter Edge Networks. The role involves leading a team of 8-10 Network Engineers, focusing on their development and career growth, and managing network edge products and their status reports to AWS leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Define safe processes, automate to improve efficiency, support internal customers.
  • Technical Leadership: Review and approve network changes, develop understanding of network issues, represent issues at management meetings.
  • Network Deployment: Manage resources for network infrastructure design and deployment, coordinate schedules, and remove roadblocks.
  • Network Measurement: Drive quality metrics, improve defect rates, capacity, and cycle times.
  • Performance Management: Oversee team performance and career development through regular meetings and mentoring.
  • Recruiting and Hiring: Lead hiring efforts, evaluate candidates, and ensure proper training for new hires.
Qualifications

Basic: 8+ years in a tech role, 4+ years in management, experience with senior management, and large-scale enterprise environment experience.

Preferred: Knowledge of networking protocols, topology design, hardware, troubleshooting skills, leadership in managing technical teams, and project delivery experience.
