About the Role

The Associate Dean (Academic & Quality Assurance) provides strategic and operational leadership across academic governance, quality assurance, curriculum development, student support, compliance, and scholarly activity. This role supports the Dean and works closely with the Academic Board, senior executives, program coordinators, and external stakeholders to ensure academic excellence, compliance with regulatory standards, and continuous institutional improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Academic Leadership:

· Collaborate with the CEO to develop and implement the Institution's academic vision andstrategic plan.

· Lead the development, maintenance and review of academic policies and systems,ensuring alignment with institutional goals.

· Represent the Institution in the wider community,building relationships with industry,government,and professional bodies.

· Build effective working relationships with internal departments and external partners to support academic initiatives and institutional growth.

2. Academic Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Governance

· Work closely with the Chair of the Academic Board to maintain and enhance academic standards.

· Ensure academic programs meet the standards set by the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF), TEQSA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.

· Lead preparations for internal and external audits, accreditations, and reviews.

· Contribute to academic governance through active participation in committees, preparation of academic reports, and monitoring academic KPIs.

3. Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning

· Oversee the design, development, implementation, and review of courses and subjects to ensure relevance, quality, and continuous improvement.

· Promote best practices in teaching and learning, including the integration of technology and innovative delivery modes (e.g., blended and block teaching).

· Lead initiatives to enhance student experience, engagement, and retention rates.

· Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that upholds academic integrity and promotes student wellbeing.

4. Scholarship, Research and Staff Development

· Encourage and support scholarly activity and academic research among faculty members.

· Identify and facilitate opportunities for academic staff to advance scholarly pursuits and contribute to the wideracademic community.

· Mentor and support academic staff in their professional and scholarly development. Oversee academic performance review, professional development planning, and workload allocation.

5. Student Academic Support

· Support strategies that enhance student engagement, academic progression, and retention.

· Oversee the resolution of academic issues including student appeals and academic misconduct, and special consideration cases.

· Upload Academic integrity and promote awareness of academic standards among students and staff.

6. Innovation and Continuous Improvement

· Identify opportunities for innovation in teaching, assessment, and academic delivery.

· lead academic projects that enhance program quality, improve student outcomes, and increase operational efficiency.

7. Other Duties

· Undertake any other duties assigned by the CEO in support of the institution's goals and strategic priorities.

Qualification & Experience (Selection Criteria)

To be successful in this application, you will need to possess:

A Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in related areas plus an internationally/locally recognised record of academic and scholarly achievement.

Extensive academic leadership experience within a higher education environment, preferably at a senior level (e.g., Head of School, Program Director, or equivalent).

A strong record of teaching excellence and curriculum development, with demonstrated ability to lead quality assurance and continuous improvement in academic programs.

Comprehensive understanding of the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF) and regulatory requirements of TEQSA.

Demonstrated experience in leading and supporting course accreditation and re-accreditation processes.

A proven track record in managing academic staff performance, professional development, and scholarly activities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Capacity to contribute to strategic planning and to foster a culture of academic excellence and innovation.

A high level of work commitment, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure, with strong time management skills and a proactive, results-driven approach.

An open-minded, positive, and constructive personality, with strong problem-solving skills and a genuine willingness to contribute to the organisation's mission, collaborate with others, and grow professionally as part of a dynamic team.
