Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, providing a range of public health services to the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Region.

The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

Role Summary

Are you passionate about delivering high-quality, evidence-based nutrition care in a mental health setting? NBMLHD is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Mental Health Service team as a Senior Dietitian. In this role, you will provide comprehensive assessment, intervention, and coordinated care for inpatient consumers, ensuring that nutritional support is tailored to individual needs and grounded in best practice. You will also serve as a key resource for mental health staff, stakeholders, and families/carers, offering expert consultation, support, and education to enhance overall care outcomes.

What You Will Do

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, intervention, and coordinated care for inpatient consumers, ensuring nutritional support is tailored to individual needs and grounded in best-practice guidelines.
  • Serve as a key resource for mental health staff, stakeholders, and families/carers, offering expert consultation, support, and education to enhance care outcomes.

What You Will Bring To The Role

  • Bachelor or postgraduate degree in nutrition and dietetics with eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia, or equivalent
  • Specialist knowledge and extensive clinical experience in nutritional management of consumers with complex co-morbid mental and physical health conditions in an acute setting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills in a demanding clinical/administrative environment
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision and student teaching
  • Experience initiating and leading quality improvement projects and research, including implementing changes to improve clinical care, services, and outcomes
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Current Driver's License and willingness to use for work travel
