About This Job

Tahmoor Public School is located 83km south of Sydney, in Tahmoor, one of Wollondilly's largest towns. With 524 enrolments, 110 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, an Opportunity Class and 4 support unit classes, our school focuses on the whole child. We deliver high quality, explicit teaching practices in the priority areas of literacy and numeracy. These priorities are supported by a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities in school sport, dance, music, public speaking, debating and student parliament. Wellbeing of our entire school community is paramount with our staff being committed, supportive and caring with a balance of early career to highly experienced teachers.

General Selection Criteria

• Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
• Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
• Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
• Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
• Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

• In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary, exemplary organisational and administrative skills integral to the complex day-to-day operations of the school with demonstrated capacity to lead school improvement and key educational reforms.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and build the capacity of teachers to implement evidence-based, explicit teaching practices and innovative pedagogy that improve educational outcomes for all students.
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence with proven ability to empower and sustain positive and authentic relationships with all members of the school community.
• Proven ability to lead and manage staff and student wellbeing initiatives that create an optimal environment for inclusion, student learning and community engagement.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
