Job Description for Tech-Advisor at VIP
The Tech-Advisor plays a vital role in living out VIP's mission to Earn Automotive Customers for Life by learning the VIP culture and processes. This involves helping the team ensure all customers receive a unique and better experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring workplace safety is top priority, following all safety policies and reporting any unsafe conditions or actions.
- Working as a service writer at the counter, serving customers by consulting with them, building relationships, and educating them about their vehicle's condition.
- Working as a technician in the shop, taking work orders, and completing services on customers' vehicles in accordance with VIP standards.
- Fulfilling required training and certification for both Service Writer and Installation Technician roles.
- Achieving high success rates in customer engagement and production of billed hours.
- Learning and executing all activities assigned by the Service Manager to deliver a unique and better customer experience.
Facility and Equipment Maintenance:
- Ensuring satisfactory maintenance, appearance, and condition of the facility to comply with security, safety, and environmental codes.
- Ensuring satisfactory maintenance, appearance, and condition of equipment to support the team's needs.
- Maintaining a clean service department throughout the business day.
Procedural Compliance:
- Enforcing strict compliance with the service Code of Ethics and all municipal, state, and federal regulations and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Communicating with management to ensure compliance with service standards and company policies.
Performance Measurement:
The Tech-Advisor supports the Service Manager in achieving targeted levels of performance through various daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Standard Management Work Week:
Schedule: The standard expectation is 5-day work and 40 hours per week.
Attendance: Arriving prior to each work shift, being ready to perform duties upon shift start time, and working all scheduled hours as directed by management.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound business sense with the ability to analyze, prioritize, identify, and implement solutions.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Comprehensive understanding of automotive servicing and the industry.
- Minimum Educational and/or Experience Level:
- One year of related experience in the automotive service field.
- Completion of a two-year college or technical school program recommended.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven Results Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations:
- Current, valid driver's license issued in the state of residence.
- ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended.
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended.
- ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering.
- State Inspection License Required (where applicable).
