Job Description of Release Manager in Brisbane, Melbourne, or Sydney:

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop, maintain, and manage overall release management criteria and plan.
  2. Package up change as part of regular releases to ensure production stability and discipline in migrations.
  3. Assess and approve the quality of migration readiness in conjunction with the project lifecycle process, data quality, and testing sign-off.
  4. Manage and coordinate vendors involved in the release where appropriate.
  5. Ensure that operations staff handovers have been successfully completed prior to release.
  6. Communicate across the team and with the business release management schedule.
  7. Work with change manager to communicate proposed change to business process, training schedules, overall benefits of project deployment, and recognition of success.
  8. Promote the segregation of duty of migration activities.
  9. Establish, configure, and maintain non-production environments.
  10. Liaise with vendor for issue resolution and upgrade planning.
  11. Manage source code, including version control.
  12. Support releases and manage migrations between environments.
  13. Develop release batch schedules.
  14. Develop and manage medium to large implementation plans.
  15. Build and maintain a broad Release Management calendar and integrate release management processes across the portfolio.
  16. Identify, prepare, analyze, and present data utilizing available technologies.
  17. Build constructive working relationships and engagement with Team Members, Stakeholders, Customers, Partners, Vendors, and all levels of Management.

Key Job Requirements

Qualifications (indicate whether mandatory or desired)

  • Tertiary Qualification in Information Technology and/or Business or equivalent industry experience (Desired)

Experience (minimum type and level of experience required to perform the role)

  • At least 5 years appropriate industry experience.
  • Previous experience in a large organization in a Release Management role.
  • Experience in managing conflicting needs of project and testing teams and meeting these with appropriate source code management and development environment set up.
  • Experience in leading geographically distributed teams.

Skills Required

  • Deep passion for release management and process improvement.
  • Thorough and proven track record improving release management maturity.
  • Experience in release management practices.
  • Strong Business Intelligence technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of the overall business intelligence platform and development process.
