Overview

Join to apply for the Finance Business Partner role at Children's Medical Research Institute.

CMRI is Australia's first dedicated paediatric research facility and is one of the world's leading independent medical research organisations. Our research focuses on cancer, genomics and genetic diseases, neurobiology, and embryology.

Responsibilities
  • Lead annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting and work closely with the Finance Manager to consolidate departmental budgets and forecasts into an integrated organisational budget, ensuring alignment with the overall financial plan and strategic objectives.
  • Prepare and present monthly management reports, forecasts and variance analyses.
  • Monitor grant/project budgets, funding and expenditure tracking.
  • Liaise with the research administration office to confirm deliverables and compliance timelines.
  • Prepare accurate and timely grant acquittals.
  • Prepare and analyse monthly management reports, highlighting variances, risks and opportunities.
  • Partner with Research Leaders and Business Unit Managers to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
Qualifications and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) are a plus.
  • Previous experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and financial management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and software (preferably Adaptive Planning).
