About the role

Our Melbourne Donor Centre is seeking a Donor Services Nursing Assistant (Phlebotomist) who has fantastic customer-facing experience and a genuine passion to deliver exceptional service to our donors. As a Nursing Assistant, you will support our donors through their donation process while working collaboratively to achieve collection targets. A day in the centre could see you:

  1. Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
  2. Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  3. Set up machines, various tubing and collection bags
  4. Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
  5. Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation

Our paid and flexible self-paced training program balances on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported. There is also an opportunity to enrol and gain a Certificate III in Pathology.

Besides having a real passion for delivering an amazing donor experience, you'll need to be able to:

  1. Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs
  2. Frequently stand, walk, and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
  3. Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Friday (no weekends), including morning and afternoon shifts

This role is being offered on a permanent part-time basis with 40 hours per fortnight. The shift pattern will consist of 4 x 5-hour shifts per week across a Monday to Friday roster. The shifts will be a mixture of morning and afternoon shifts between 0600-1800hrs.
