Secondary Science Teacher (Chemistry or/and Psychology)

Seventh-day Adventist Schools (Victoria) Ltd is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Science Teacher (Year 7-12) to join the Secondary team at Mernda Hills Christian College. The successful applicant will have the ability to teach VCE, with expertise in Chemistry highly desirable and the ability to teach Psychology considered an advantage.

The successful candidate will demonstrate that they:

  • Plan, prepare and teach programs to achieve specific student outcomes
  • Use critical reflection to improve the knowledge, learning and skills of students
  • Use multiple sources of feedback on their classroom practice to inform their professional learning goals
  • Show a willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues to improve teaching and learning within the school and the wider Seventh-day Adventist school system
  • Can support and actively promote, and not undermine, the Christian-based values and ethos of the College based on the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • Have the capacity to teach the Australian curriculum in the context of the college's Christian-based ethos
  • Be able to plan for and lead daily Christian-based class devotions to students

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate students
  • Dedication to evidence-based teaching practices and ongoing professional development
  • Time management and organisational abilities
  • Current VIT registration and relevant teaching qualifications
  • As part of our screening requirement, reference checks will be undertaken including referencing your ability to work safely with children.
  • These positions are subject to maintaining registration with VIT

The salary range is $83-124k based on years of experience.
