Commercial Finance Analyst

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Commercial Finance Analyst to provide strategic financial support to our Editorial leadership team within the Free News & Lifestyle publishing division. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on curiosity and brings positive energy to their work.

This role involves transforming financial and non-financial data into actionable insights to drive profitable growth and cost sustainability. You will partner directly with key stakeholders from our Brand editorial teams, such as News.com.au, Taste, Body & Soul and Escape, to navigate market dynamics and inform decision-making. Additionally, you will oversee financial planning processes, including budgeting and forecasting, to ensure alignment with business objectives.

1. Conduct monthly P&L reviews and partner with senior leaders to analyze weekly revenue results.
2. Assist in driving a high-performing finance team through development planning, continuous education, and information sharing.
3. Perform scenario analyses to identify and evaluate future business opportunities.
4. Collaborate on cost optimization initiatives, assessing their impact on the P&L.
5. Monitor and analyze financial results, providing insights to enhance business performance.
6. Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring financial targets are met.

1. CA/CPA qualified (preferred, not essential) with ideally 2 years of experience in a commercial finance role or demonstrated professional accounting competency.
2. Naturally curious, with the ability to demonstrate commercial acumen and strong analytical skill.
3. Capable of translating complex data and insights into simple messaging and actionable insights.
4. Develop and manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
5. Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to business challenges.
6. Resilient and adept at managing competing deadlines in a dynamic environment.
7. Experience in financial planning, analysis, and cost management within a commercial setting.
