The Group Procurement team supports CBA to deliver leading practice procurement. This role sits within the Group Corporate Services function.

Group Procurement manages all activities across the procurement lifecycle, namely:

  1. Requirements gathering and strategy – identify opportunities to add value to CBA, our customers and shareholders through sourcing and negotiating with major suppliers.

  2. Execution and negotiation – deliver market leading commercial deals for CBA that balance the safety and security of our supply chain with the commercial imperatives of CBA.

  3. Implement and transition – bring to life the strategy developed and embed the change within CBA.

  4. Performance and governance – ensure maximum value is delivered from our external relationships as a result of effective management and governance.

Do work that matters:

This role reports into the Executive Manager Customer & Product, and as a Category Manager Customer & Product, you will be responsible for the end-to-end procurement lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Develop and execute upon category plans that deliver value across the BB and IB&M BU and for the categories you lead, which may include categories such as Searches, Commercial Valuations, Trade Products. However, you will also have the opportunity to support other categories in RBS as required, including Home Buying and Card Products.

  2. Deliver on agreed targets and objectives through the implementation of strategic or tactical procurement strategies/plans.

  3. Develop effective performance management strategies across all relevant categories and major suppliers in line with the Supplier Governance Framework and in collaboration with the key stakeholders.

  4. Interact directly with business leaders to develop, manage and execute the agreed strategy.

  5. Advocate compliance to Bank-wide and Procurement processes.

  6. Deliver a strategy plan that covers: business category requirements; broad and specific business objectives; the supply market in detail including leading practice and technology trends; spend analysis, demand drivers and demand management strategies; risk and appropriate risk mitigation strategies, negotiation tactics and contracting strategies.

  7. Identify metrics, tools, strategies and processes to optimise procurement and continually drive productivity.

  8. Ensure savings and realised benefits are clearly defined, agreed and recorded by the procurement team.

  9. Lead and motivate stakeholders and peers supporting the delivery of the procurement strategy.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

  1. 3-5 years of experience in procurement or a related field.

  2. University Bachelor's degree in business field.

  3. Prior experience in managing categories in a FI would be desirable but not mandatory - such as Searches, Card Schemes, Card Products, Loyalty, Mail houses, Cash in Transit, Home Valuations and Settlements.

  4. Demonstrated ability to manage influence stakeholders and work collaboratively with customers and suppliers.

  5. Demonstrated experience of all Procurement process disciplines across the procurement lifecycle, including Category Management.

  6. Strong commercial and contract negotiation skills and experience;

  7. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, able to work well in a team environment, and adhere to the highest ethical standards.

  8. A growth mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo; and

  9. A high degree of problem solving and decision-making ability.
