We are hiring an employment legal counsel to support our operations and growth in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, the PRC, and Singapore. This role will partner with teams across Snowflake to advise on employment matters. It is an in-person position reporting to Snowflake's Director, Assistant General Counsel - Employment, based in Sydney, Australia; Pune, India; or Singapore.

What You'll Do

  • Provide pragmatic legal advice on employment law issues across the Asia Pacific region, including:
    • Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes
    • Compensation, benefits, and executive remuneration
    • Leaves of absence, disability accommodations, and flexible working requests
    • Contingent worker and contractor issues
    • Development and implementation of HR policies and procedures
    • Performance management, disciplinary actions, and grievances
    • Conducting and advising on internal investigations
    • Managing redundancies and reorganizations
    • Engaging with employee representative bodies where applicable
  • Draft, negotiate, and enforce employment-related agreements, templates, and forms, such as employment contracts, consulting agreements, settlement agreements, and restrictive covenants.
  • Develop and implement scalable, compliant employment policies and programs to support Snowflake's growth.
  • Conduct reviews and audits of employment policies and practices to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Assist in managing employment disputes, governmental agency actions, and litigation matters.
  • Monitor changes in employment laws across the region and advise on their impact on the company.

Requirements

  • Ability to assess legal risks and benefits and provide clear, business-oriented advice
  • Proactive, positive attitude, capable of handling diverse projects
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Experience creating and scaling HR processes and policies for growing companies
  • JD, LLB, or equivalent degree
  • At least 4 years of legal experience with substantive employment law expertise
  • Experience in law firms, in-house roles at multinational companies, or handling employment law in the Asia Pacific region preferred
  • Fluent in English; additional fluency in Japanese, Mandarin, or Korean is a plus
  • Sense of humor
