The Department of Education is seeking applications for secondary teachers to fill vacancies across Western Australia. Opportunities are for a full-time contract including living and working in the Goldfields DAMA region.

Who we are looking forTo teach in a Western Australian public school, you must have a recognised, completed initial teacher education qualification. This may be a completed Bachelor of Education, or equivalent; or an undergraduate degree and a post-graduate teaching qualification.
Eligibility and trainingApplicants are required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration.
- Complete the Department's Aboriginal Cultural Appreciation course.
- Complete the Department's induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
More detail on the role of a secondary teacher is provided below. Teachers in their final year of study or in their first two years of teaching can apply to the Graduate Teacher Pool.
Job duties- Delivering curriculum using a range of teaching techniques
- Encouraging and developing students' interests and abilities through creative activities
- Guiding discussions and supervising work in class
- Preparing, administering and marking tests, projects and assignments to evaluate students' progress and recording the results
- Providing feedback on progress to students and parents
- Behaviour management in all areas of the school
- Attendance at and participation in staff meetings, educational conferences and workshops
- Maintaining class and scholastic records
- Participation in extra-curricular tasks, e.g. sport, school concerts, excursions and special interest programs
- Supervising student teachers as required
