UGL's Utilities team designs, constructs, and maintains critical infrastructure across power, water, and renewable sectors. Our projects include HV Substations up to 500kV, power stations, wastewater treatment plants, and water pipelines. We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Primary Systems) based in Sydney, Brisbane, or Melbourne to provide detailed designs, develop specifications, and coordinate with management on design issues.

Job Purpose

Provide conceptual and detailed design of HV Substations up to 500kV, support on Transmission Line projects, and develop project specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design HV substations and related infrastructure, including configuration, layouts, busbar schemes, and safety considerations.
  • Prepare specifications for HV equipment and buildings, conduct insulation coordination, and study lightning protection and EMF.
  • Attend site visits to ascertain project requirements and support BESS, solar, and wind farm projects.
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • At least 1 year of primary HV plant design experience.
  • Knowledge of HV cable design, earthing, lightning protection, and system planning.
  • Proficiency with Cymcap, EMTP, and CDEGS software.
