Senior Quality Assurance Automation Engineer

Purpose of the Role

As a Senior Test Engineer you will act as a key advocate for quality, embedding enterprise best practices and automation throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

The Senior Test Engineer is expected to ensure solution correctness by clarifying requirements, proactively mitigating risks, and driving continuous improvement in testing methodologies. This role collaborates closely with stakeholders to deliver reliable and high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives.

Key Accountabilities
  • Test Strategy, Planning & Design: Leads comprehensive test planning by managing efforts around estimation, scheduling, and resource allocation. Analyses requirements and designs thoroughly for testability and risks, while actively supporting and implementing the overall testing strategy to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Test Execution Oversight & Defect Management: Oversees all testing activities, including system, integration, end-to-end, and user acceptance testing. Manages the defect lifecycle effectively, ensuring accurate logging, tracking, and resolution. Ensures test environments and data are consistently ready and available for testing activities. Peer review test cases, in line with enterprise quality standards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Reporting: Builds and maintains strong, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders such as developers, product owners, and project managers. Clearly communicates testing progress, results, risks, and issues, providing actionable insights and detailed test reports to stakeholders.
  • Quality Improvement & Mentorship: Actively drives continuous improvement initiatives in testing processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Mentors and coaches junior test engineers, fostering their professional growth and technical development.
Technical qualifications and experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on testing experience, with a significant focus on test automation within full-stack application environments.
  • Proven ability to develop, document, and maintain comprehensive Test Plans and Test Summary Reports.
  • Expertise in designing and developing automated UI test suites with tools like Playwright or similar.
  • Proficiency in automated API testing using tools such as Supertest, Axios, Postman, or equivalent.
  • Experience with performance testing methodologies and tools (e.g., Artillery.io, JMeter, Lighthouse).
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD principles and proven experience integrating automated tests into pipelines.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, specifically AWS, including leveraging its services for testing purposes.
  • Proven ability to analyse and continuously enhance testing processes, methodologies, and tool usage to improve product quality and team productivity.
