The Role:

The Nurse Unit Manager:

  • Provides leadership to the nursing staff within the day patient unit, Medical Day Procedure Unit, Mersey Community Hospital (MCH).
  • Ensures the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework by coordinating the clinical, management, education and nursing research functions within the Medical Day Procedure Unit.
  • Leads and manages the coordination of overall patient care and is responsible for managing the allocated human, material and financial resources for service delivery within the Unit.
  • Preferably holds relevant post graduate qualifications and is committed to ongoing professional and academic development
  • Manages the financial, physical and human resources of the Medical Day Procedure Unit to achieve agreed service outcomes within the allocated budget.
  • Monitors, manages and reports on the performance and activity levels of the day patient clinical service.
  • Monitors and manages staff performance and development.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing from 8 September 2025.
  • notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $122,365 to $129,060 per annum (pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria
  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
  • Relevant post graduate qualifications
  • Holds or is working towards, tertiary qualifications in nursing/midwifery education or equivalent
