Overview

Karratha Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Mathematics Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requirements include character-limited responses to address only 2 Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains at application stage. The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed as part of the further assessment stage, for shortlisted applicants only.

About Our School

At Karratha SHS we empower every student to embrace opportunities, build resilience, and contribute positively to society. Karratha SHS is an independent public school for students from Years 7 to 12. We serve a diverse population of approximately 1270 students who live in Karratha and surrounding towns. Our facilities create an inviting and inclusive environment. Our educators range from graduates to Level 3 classroom teachers and Senior teachers. The school has a long-standing local reputation for producing responsible, engaged, compassionate young people who graduate to contribute to society.

The Role

Suitable applicants should demonstrate strong professional knowledge, effective teaching practices, and relevant experience to deliver an engaging secondary school Mathematics curriculum. Teaching practices must align with the Whole School Instructional Model to ensure consistency and effectiveness across all learning areas. The ability to analyse and apply data from assessments (NAPLAN and OLNA) to inform planning, instruction and assessment is highly desirable. Applicants should be dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment with meaningful learning opportunities that empower students to reach their potential. Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration with students, staff and the wider school community are required. Mobility Appointments

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers: Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school may elect to undertake a 3-year mobility appointment with a right of return to their substantive position. At the end of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers may return to their substantive role or transfer permanently to this school. Check eligibility on IKON. Note: South West teachers are not eligible to move to another South West school under this trial.

• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment

• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start
