Overview

The Azure Networking team innovates across the stack to meet the growing needs of AI infrastructure and hundreds of thousands of customers using Azure Services. We work on networking software defined offerings such as Software Load Balancer, Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, and other services. As a Software Engineer in Software Defined Networking, you will work on visible projects shaping the future of our networking software services and impacting AI workloads, with opportunities to collaborate across Microsoft Azure teams and the Cloud & Enterprise division.

Responsibilities
  • Work with stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
  • Identify dependencies and develop design documents for a product area with limited oversight.
  • Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code where applicable.
  • Break down larger work items into smaller tasks and provide estimates.
  • Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) on-call to monitor system/product features for degradation and coordinate restoration for simple problems.
  • Stay current in skills to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products, while driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. OR equivalent experience.
  • Reliable, high quality software development
  • Experience with large-scale orchestration frameworks
  • Extensive backend application development
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years of experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Master's Degree with 2+ years
  • Demonstrated and innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts including continuous deployment, deployment automation, and telemetry frameworks
Other Requirements
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check obtained upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
