About Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO)

The Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) is a statutory body established under the Aboriginal Housing Act 1998 (NSW) to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to affordable, quality housing.

The AHO is governed by an all-Aboriginal Board, which provides advice to the Minister for Housing and Homelessness. In addition, the AHO manages and coordinates an annual capital works program, along with developing and implementing financial and resourcing strategies.

Your role

Provide a range of executive support and administrative services to facilitate the delivery of business operations and support the Director's achievement of organisational objectives.

What you'll do

  • Assess and prioritise requests to facilitate the optimal use of the Director's time.
  • Manage the Director's diary appointments, records and correspondence, coordinate travel arrangements, and schedule and support meetings to facilitate the effective management of their agenda.
  • Draft and prepare correspondence, agendas, minutes, presentations and briefing notes to support the achievement of business requirements.
  • Gather, collate and provide background information for the Director to support informed decision making and planning.
  • Maintain and update administrative practices, systems and procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery.
  • Prepare newsletter and organise events as well as arranging and greeting visitors/guests.
  • Invoicing/accounts payable coordination for the Directorate.

What we're looking for

  • The ideal candidate will thrive on organisation and have a genuine passion for administrative work.
  • Strong executive support skills, an expert at managing calendars, coordinating meetings, handling correspondence and ensure the executives are supported in their goals.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

As an Identified role, this position is open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons.

    • is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
